Profile
Call me Talvin, more people know me by that than my real name anyhow.
I have been playing casually off and on, both tabletop (that's been a while) and computer games since the early 90s, and I have a significant collection of the novels, some in print from back when, though nowadays I mostly get Kindle. My most interesting achievement is losing a Highlander to a Gauss headshot (after I kept saying "There can be only one!") during a free-for-all game in college. And I have a degree in English and Education for all that's worth.
I have been enjoying this Wiki for a while and decided it was time I stepped up to pay my dues.
Project Orphanage
For my first project, I am going to do what I can do in the Orphanage: Special:LonelyPages
Wikis work best when pages are linked from other pages. Categories help in some cases, but I feel Categories are not always going to be the best answer. (Case in point, the Category for Wolf's Dragoons Characters runs to four figures.)
The LonelyPages page will only list up to 1,000 entries, so I am going to have to find someplace to park a lot of little things so I can find the bigger fish.
- List of Bloodnames. Many of the Bloodname pages were orphans. 4 Feb 2022: Done.
- Linking units and spacecraft to their parent commands.
- Figuring out how to assign "minor" characters (who can become supporting or even major characters if an author or developer decides to use them in a future work) to pages so as to clear out the orphan list. In this, I am going to have to BE BOLD. I am going to start by creating an experimental page: Battle of Luthien Participants. This will be an attempt to balance the need to use something besides Categories with avoiding duplication of a copyrighted work. See the talk page there for further discussion.
- Around 60 orphan "Battle of ____" pages. Working to get these linked to planets and participating units where that can be quickly and easily done.
- Got around 20 Forts linked to their respective planets.
