Category:Weapons of Mass Destruction

This category encompasses all articles about toxins, pathogens and other weapons or weaponized effects in the BattleTech universe that have been classified as Weapons of Mass Destruction (WMD or WoMD).

Historically, Weapons of Mass Destruction have been subdivided into biological, chemical and nuclear (radiological) weapons, but that distinction is not necessarily exclusive as the Clarion Note protocol, also explicitly considered a WMD, does not fall into any of these categories. Also, the distinction between biological and chemical weapons is sometimes blurred and they are treated under a shared ruleset in a summary chapter on bio-chemical weapons under BattleTech game rules (as per Interstellar Operations).

It has been noted that WMD are generally outlawed by numerous international and insterstellar laws including the Ares Conventions (which are technically defunct since the Reunification War but are still often cited and seem to have a lingering effect on the perception of the rules of warfare in the BattleTech universe).
