History
During the period between 2518 and 2520, the Treason Trials purged the Federated Suns High Council of most Lauraists (supporters of Laura Davion) and other moderates.[1]
This had the unintended effect of reducing the number of Regents from five to four, often leaving them deadlocked.[1]
