==History==
Fadre Singh joined Wolf's Dragoons in [[3020]].<ref name=wd>''Wolf's Dragoons (sourcebook)'', p. 128</ref> Several facts suggest that he was recruited from the [[Clans]], possibly during the last supply run to the Clans in [[3019]] (after their costly attack on [[Hesperus II]]). Recruits from the Inner Sphere were briefed on the Dragoons' ''Hegira'' plan only upon attaining the rank of company commander{{cn}}, but Singh knew about the plan even though he was only a regular [[MechWarrior (pilot)|MechWarrior]].<ref name=wd/><ref name=WotB26>''Wolves on the Border'', ch. 26</ref> Further indications are his peculiar attitude towards [[Jaime Wolf]], his reference to Wolf's age (unremarkable by Inner Sphere standards, but old by Clan standards), his reference to the Dragoons as the "Wolf Dragoons", and Natasha Kerensky's reaction to his betrayal that referred to Clan traditions and laws.<ref name=WotB51/>

===Hoff===
In [[3023]] Wolf's Dragoons, then employed by the [[Draconis Combine]], raided the [[Federated Suns]] world of [[Hoff]] where they met stiff resistance from the elite [[Eridani Light Horse]] mercenaries. During the battle, Singh disobeyed orders and led a successful charge against an enemy supply depot, an attack that contributed greatly to the success of the campaign. The assault resulted in the death of a lancemate and the loss of several Dragoon 'Mechs. Singh was reprimanded, dismissed from his unit, and reassigned to the desolate border world of [[Misery]].<ref name=wd/><ref name=WotB26/>

===Misery===
On Misery, Singh met a fellow MechWarrior (a female mercenary implied to have been a ComStar [[ROM]] agent) to whom he revealed secret Dragoon information regarding the existence of the Dragoons' ''Hegira'' plan, a contingency plan detailing a complete departure from the Combine. On 2 November [[3026]], the new ComStar Precentor on [[Galedon V]], [[Alexandre Kalafon]], relayed the information to Warlord [[Grieg Samsonov]], and suggested that Singh was unhappy with his employer.<ref name=WotB26/> Singh subsequently left his unit to accept an officer's position in the ''[[Ryuken]]'' with the rank of ''[[Tai-sa]]''.<ref name=wd/>

Tensions between Wolf's Dragoons and the Draconis Combine escalated, culminating in the [[Battle of Misery]] in early [[3028]]. Fadre Singh fought for the [[DCMS|Combine's forces]], piloting a ''[[Crusader]]''.<ref name=WotB51>''Wolves on the Border'', ch. 51</ref>

On 23 April 3028, Singh was captured by the Dragoons on Misery when his 'Mech was downed in an ambush by [[Dechan Fraser]]'s lance. He was taken to the Dragoon headquarters, where he boasted that he had revealed information about the Dragoons' contingency plans to Warlord Samsonov. [[Natasha Kerensky]] shot him on the spot, declaring, "Those who break faith with the unity shall go down into darkness."<ref name=WotB51/>

Jaime Wolf later mentioned to [[Minobu Tetsuhara]] that Warlord Samsonov's troops had pursued the retreating Dragoon families in space. Because the ''Hegira'' plan called for an escape along a secret route, separated from the main fighting body, the strike at the Dragoon civilians was likely possible only because of Singh's betrayal.<ref name=WotB55>''Wolves on the Border'', ch. 55</ref>
