===Early life===
Sorenson was born into privilege, inheriting the noble title of countess.  Her father was the owner of [[Sorenson Mechanics]], which built engines for several hovercraft, including the Typhoon, a popular model in Federated Suns.<ref name=W:EGc6/>

=== Solaris VII and Justin Xiang ===
Sorenson became disaffected with the idleness of noble life and eventually joined the Federated Suns' [[Ministry of Information, Intelligence, and Operations]], eventually becoming a covert operative under the command of [[Quintus Allard]].  In 3026, she was sent to monitor several targets on [[Solaris VII]], including [[Gray Noton]], [[Justin Allard]], and [[Enrico Lestrade]], the Baron von Summer.  She fabricated a cover story that she was forced to leave the Federated Suns for Solaris VII after her father disinherited her for fiercely disagreeing with him on a subject.<ref>''Warrior: En Garde'', p. 44: Enrico tells Noton of Kym's "Background" information.</ref>  Thanks to careful positioning and field work, Sorenson was able to arrange a chance meeting with Justin Xiang at Baron Lestrade's Stadium box in February, [[3027]].  Taking advantage of her natural charm and Justin's isolation, she quickly garnered his trust and the two became acquaintances.  This relationship quickly blossomed into a romantic one, which she used to keep tabs on Xiang's movements and thoughts.

Unfortunately, Sorenson's cover was eventually blown when Gray Noton discovered her routine late-night visits to a coffee shop his network of informants knew to be a front for the MIIO.  Before being caught by Gray and Justin, Sorenson was able to transmit a message to the MIIO that Noton had been the pilot to ambush Justin on [[Kittery]], which proved his innocence from the trumped-up charges that had led to his exile.<ref>''Warrior: En Garde'', p. 189: Noton says better he kill him instead of him dying in same way by Wolfson.</ref>  Justin, tipped off by Gray that Sorenson was a spy, ambushed her in an alley.  Though she tried to tell Justin that Noton was the one who had almost killed him, Justin refused to let her speak and, outraged, broke her jaw with his bionic arm.  Calling her "a Davion whore," Justin told her to relay a message from him to Hanse Davion.

Sorenson returned to New Avalon, and passed the message to her handlers and the Prince.  There she underwent surgery to heal her broken jaw and was given a cover assignment to work at the New Avalon Institute of Science in order to monitor suspected ComStar ROM activity there.<ref>''Warrior: Riposte'', p. 40: Kym's assignment for most of [[3027]] is to watch for ComStar spies.</ref>

Hanse Davion, being concerned over loyalty of his nephew [[Morgan Hasek-Davion]], assigned Kym to assess him in October [[3027]].<ref>''Warrior: Riposte'', p. 40: Hanse assigns Kim to monitor Morgan very closely.</ref> MIIO arranges for Kym to be "attacked" by men in the [[Davion Peace Park]] in [[Avalon City]].<ref>''Warrior: Riposte'', pp. 56–59: Morgan rushes to the rescue of Kym being mugged by a couple of thugs.</ref>

She and Morgan develop a relationship, becoming close enough that Morgan asks Quintus Allard to do a security check on her to make sure she is clean.<ref>''Warrior: Riposte'', pp. 125–126: Morgan asks MIIO chief Quintus Allard to check out Kym to make sure she has a clean background.</ref> She traveled with Morgan to [[Terra]] where she was part of the Davion wedding party as Morgan's guest in August of [[3028]].<ref>''Warrior: Riposte'', pp. 220–221: Kym greets First Prince Hanse Davion as he comes to see Morgan prior on his wedding day.</ref>

After the outbreak of the [[4th Succession War|Fourth Succession War]], she and the rest of the wedding party returned to New Avalon. There she continued to monitor him and developed deeper feelings.

In July, [[3029]] - She continued in her role at [[NAIS]] as assistant to Doctor [[Riva Allard]].<ref>''Warrior: Coupé'', p. 153: She arrives from medical wards and reports to Dr. Allard on wounded soldiers who qualify for new bionics.</ref> She goes on say how bad things are in the wards as more troops arrive from the fighting on [[Sarna]].

Later, her boyfriend, Morgan Hasek-Davion drops by to visit her and the troops. He brings gifts of holovideos and quality liquor from [[Lyran Commonwealth]]. After a quick discussion between Dr. Allard and her assistants with Morgan they decide to have party for the soldiers using his gifts.<ref>''Warrior: Coupé'', pp. 154–156: Morgan arrives with gifts and party for the wounded soldiers immediately planned.</ref>

In August [[3029]], she was summoned by Prince Hanse Davion for an urgent meeting.  Nervous because this was the first time the Prince had ever seen her in her official capacity.  After telling Hanse that Morgan was fine he asked her if he could be trusted with troops.  Kym gives an unflinching report that Morgan is incredibly loyal to Prince and Federated Suns and is no threat to the First Prince.  Separatists from Capellan March had tried to contact him and he told them to "go to hell."

She also notifies Hanse that after Duke Michael's death of Count Anton Vitios pledge to support Morgan against Hanse.  However Morgan quickly replied that the Capellan March would forever remain loyal to Federated Suns and that he will fight him if tries to push his father's separatism on him.  Prince Davion is satisfied with report and tell her that she done service he will never be able to repay.  She asks only to keep her spying activities a secret because she loves him too much to have him hurt by an mistrust from his Uncle.<ref>''Warrior: Coupé'', p. ?: Kym Sorenson gives her last report to First Prince Hanse Davion and request her spying on Morgan remain secret from him.{{cn}}</ref>

On September 10th, during a late night visit with Doctor Riva Allard at New Avalon Institute of Science. Kym was talking about her feelings about being away from Morgan when "Liao Death Commandos" attack the lab.<ref>''Warrior: Coupé'', p. ?: ComStar troops posing as [[House Liao]] [[Death Commandos]] attack New Avalon.{{cn}}</ref> She and Riva team up and try to fend off the Commandos breaking into the Lab intent on destroying the [[Helm Memory Core]].  In the midst of the fighting Kym jumps and tackles Riva out of way of a grenade.  Kym is wounded and rendered unconscious by the blast Riva takes Kym's pistol and manages to kill their attackers before taking herself and Kym to cover.
