Question : Do these planets have Clan-run HPG stations? The sources I've seen are unclear. ClanWolverine101 19:49, 6 June 2010 (UTC)

:I've not read extensively into the Clan's day to day and basic info. It assumed they do have HPGs, or they won't be communicating with Inner Sphere holdings.  In MW novel, Ghost of Winter, people on a periphery mining planet, stumbled on a abandoned Clan Steel Viper HPG device inside a hidden bunker after the clans abandoned the planet.  Vipers received a message from the depot that it had been breached. People who took it over, received a message FROM the Vipers saying they're too busy to come and get them. Also, other books like first book Twilight of the Clans, Exodus Road (novel), shows a deep periphery world with a relay HPG station on it to the Clan home Worlds, and HPG on Huntress (Jade Falcon's base) sent signal to other Clan Worlds that planet was invaded. -- Wrangler 19:55, 6 June 2010 (UTC)

:: Here's the problem : As I understand the HPG network, there is a fixed range on how far a message can go. Something like 50 light years. The only reason a message from Tharkad would reach New Avalon is that the message bounces from one station to the next. It still takes a few days. Am I misunderstanding it? :::One of the biggest examples of Clans having HPGs not only on their home planets but warships as well is the Grand Council held after Leo Showers was killed. IIRC, HPG-carrying warships were lined up along the invasion route back to the home worlds in order to make the meeting basically real-time. There is no reason to believe that the Clan home worlds do not have HPGs and plenty of canon evidence that either explicitly or implicitly states that they do. -MajorTom

::::The Clans: Warriors of Kerensky page 61 indicates the Clan Homeworlds (Pentagon and Cluster) do have a HPG network and while SLCOMNET/ComStar style batch message transmission is the norm, due to the relatively proximity and small number of worlds its capable of pseudo real-time transmission with a 0.25 second delay for each "hop". It also indicates unmanned relay stations (like the Explorer Corps DRUM Network) is used for the big gaps like between the Pentagon and the Cluster, and mention a similar chain of relay stations supported by WarShip to link the Homeworld network to the Inner Sphere. The Explorer Corps (sourcebook) also briefly touches on Clan WarShip chain on page 35. Cyc 10:23, 9 June 2010 (UTC)

::::: Ah, cool. I just remembered that HPG's have a limited range without a relay.... IS to the Clan worlds : That's a LOT of relays. :P ClanWolverine101 16:42, 9 June 2010 (UTC)

:::::::Yes they were, but WoB and other forces had been systematicly destroying those relay stations which was mentioned in the Jihad Hot Spots books and other jihad era publications. Right now the Pentagon & Kerensky Clusters are cut off. -- Wrangler 17:04, 9 June 2010 (UTC)

So why not combine these two articles? Most references to the Clan Homeworlds are not specific to one group or the other. Just a thought. ClanWolverine101 06:49, 17 December 2010 (UTC)
