History
The Van Vliet was a WarShip of unspecified class serving the SLDF. On the eve of Aleksandr Kerensky's Operation Exodus in 2784 it was one of several SLDF WarShips that were listed with their name, class and an (unexplained) percentage number;[1] context suggests those would be vessels that joined General Kerensky in his Exodus. In the case of the Van Vliet, the class and percentage entries are obscured.
Notes
- According to BattleTech writer Øystein Tvedten[2] several BattleTech writers had WarShips that went on the Exodus named after them (on a monitor in the background) in the picture on p. 9 of Field Manual: Update. The Van Vliet was apparently named for Remy van Vliet, who was credited as a contributor to the "Historical Archive Team" (the team that scanned the first edition Housebooks so that CGL could offer them for free download).
