Battle of Oriente (2475)

The Free Worlds League used Oriente as a staging area for a surprise naval attack into the Terran Hedgemony, due to paranoia. A spy among battle planners informed the Hedgemony of the attack plans. Cameron hastily assembled a task force of his own, with orders to jump as soon as possible. The TH fleet jumped to Oriente in a counter- surprise attack. The Free Worlds League Admiral divided his ships against the oncoming Hedgemony Warships, ordering his Pinto-class Corvettes to scatter and make quick strafing attacks from all sides. This dividing of forces cost FWL, as the Cameron ships claimed first blood. Catching `FWLS Carrikos' by herself, two TH Lola I-class Destroyers trapped the ancient Dart-class Cruiser between them, pounding her to scrap metal with overwhelming heavy naval laser and autocannon fire. Three FWL Pintos regrouped, able to make two strafing runs each, on one of the Lolas that attacked `Carrikos'. A large gash opened on the Destroyer's, after repeated naval autocannon hits. Two Terran Hedgemony Riga-class Frigates moved to hold the remaining two FWL Darts in place, allowing time for `THS Admiral Daniel Hill', a Monsoon-class BattleShip, to fully engage. Like a wounded animal, the Darts seemed to ignore the Cameron Frigates, instead going after the limping Lola. One Dart provided covering fire, throwing out NAC fire liberally against the Rigas, while the other would make a pass on the wounded TH ship. The five Pinto Corvettes of the FWL task force were battling with the remaining two Hedgemony Lolas, while the old Darts fought against the Rigas, while chasing the damaged 3rd Lola, which was trying to remove itself from battle. One Pinto broke away from the battling Lolas, to sprint ahead and park itself in front of the damaged TH Destroyer. Combining its weaponry with that of a passing Dart Cruiser, the damaged Lola finally succumbed to its wounds, erupting in a fireball. A few moments later, the Dart which made that final pass, ejected pieces of itself, before going critical and exploding. Coming out of its attack run on the Lola brought it straight in front of the `Adm Daniel Hill's' broadsided nine heavy naval autocannons and twelve heavy naval lasers. The Terran Hedgemony's remaining Lolas then ganged up on the FWL's remaining Cruiser, while the Riga Frigates corraled the Pintos into the range of the Monsoon's guns. The two sides traded two Pintos for one Riga, before the Lolas destroyed the Dart. The Lolas then joined the remaining Cameron Riga, pushing the FWL Corvettes into the Monsoon's gun range. Eventually, the Pintos were worn down. The Monsoon allowed the Lolas and Riga each to put the final shots on a Pinto, destroying all 3 FWL Corvettes almost simoultaneously
