Description

The Gray Death Standard battle armor was developed by the technicians of the Gray Death Legion after a number of battle armor suits were sent to the Legion for field testing. The standard jump jet is removed, however reinforced myomer bundles enable the wearer to move at speeds of 30 kph. Other modifications include improved sensors and an anti-personnel weapon mount. It retains the modular weapon mount of the Inner Sphere Standard, allowing it to carry a SRM-launcher, flamer, or other heavy weapons. These changes made it easier to maintain and produce than the original prototype (which presumably became the Inner Sphere Standard).

The new armor debuted in battle against the Jade Falcons on Pandora during the original Clan invasion (pre-Tukayyid). The battle armor had a decisive role in the Legions victory over the Falcons.

A number of suits were sold to mercenary units and the LAAF, though most were kept within the Legion to replace losses.

Notes

According to the blog entry noted below, the armor is manufactured by Gray Death Industries, a company set up by a relative of a Legion infantry commander. This occured after the Legion's destruction on Hesperus II. The Gray Death Standard, along with the Light Scout version, is marketed to the LAAF and mercenary units. The draft shown was openly stated as being pre-edit.
