This weapon fires rifle rounds in the vicenity of 7.62 mm ''or 0.30 calibre''. This calibre of round is better able to damage [[:Category:BattleMechs|BattleMechs]], [[:Category:Battle Armor]] and [[:Category:Combat Vehicles]] due to the higher mass of the projectiles and muzzle velocity. Portable Machine Guns are light enough to be carried and fired by a single trooper and are often deployed along side grenade launchers.
