I agree they can complicate the interface, but would remark that we are much more likely to use those than many of the special symbols, vowels & consonants characters currently displayed. (And your edittools helped save me time from having to go back and forth to an open sandbox where I used to keep them available). Need More symbols?
It's fairly easy to add more character inserts, such as symbols. If you have any questions contact me on my talk page. --Ebakunin 18:20, 9 July 2009 (UTC)
Configuration
I moved the {{citation needed}} template to the wikicode box and removed the <ref name=name> option. My thinking is to keep the options as basic as possible. There are many different templates we can show, but I'd like to stick to the ones that are easiest to use. The "named" references are an advanced option, and in my opinion only complicate the interface.
