Major General Rene Then was the commander of the Star League Defense Force's 3rd Jump Infantry Division as of 2764.[1]

The 3rd Jump Infantry Division had not seen much combat, so in an attempt to keep their experience level up, Major General Then organized with local law enforcement on Matheran to run aerial drop maneuvers on criminals who had gone to ground in nearby wilderness regions.[1]
