Richard Saito was the commander of the Fifteenth Dieron Regulars, Second Battalion.[1]
History[edit]
Richard Saito was the revered commander of the Fifteenth Dieron Regulars' Second Battalion whose members were blindly devoted to him. He privately hired mercenary forces to support the Draconis Combine's invasion thrust into Federated Suns–space as well as for his own nefarious purposes.[1]
Looking to gain a firm foothold in the Dieron Military District, the Federated Suns hired a mercenary company to slip behind Kuritan lines and assassinate Saito and as many of his command staff as possible on Homam, believing it would break the battalion's morale and shatter the Fifteenth. After Saito's death, all his contracted mercenaries exercised their escape clauses, not wanting anything to do with Saito's subcommanders or his eventual successor. The Federated Suns hoped to hire some of them to their side to assist in the defense of neighboring systems.[1]
