From the very first day I joined this community, I found myself in conflict with a particular person.  My first experience of them was them telling me not to edit certain topics without talking to them first, as they "owned" those topics.  I DMed them to inquire how that squared with Wiki policy, and they backpedaled fast, but I can only suppose that having challenged their "authority" marked me for further attention.  I tried to improve a reference-less article from years ago that had been written by an Admin, and I got publicly bawled out because that person didn't like what the '''Admin''' wrote and felt I should have taken responsibility for those portions.  Soon, any project I tried to join or undertake, that person also joined.   If I withdrew from a project to avoid contact with them, they also seemed to quickly lose interest--a disturbing trend.

Not solely because of that person, but largely due to them, I left the Sarna Discord.  That bought me a couple months of relative peace, and then they showed up right in the middle of a project I was doing with an Admin and...blew it up.  Massive disruption.  I ducked out of the conversation they had joined and started a new one under a new heading, trying to follow Sarna's advice in Policy of just avoiding them.  They promptly cut and pasted their contribution from the conversation I had left down to where I had moved, and I finally snapped back at them.
Call me Talvin, more people know me by that than my real name anyhow.

I have been playing casually off and on, both tabletop (that's been a while) and computer games since the early 90s, and I have a significant collection of the novels, some in print from back when, though nowadays I mostly get KindleMy most interesting achievement is losing a Highlander to a Gauss headshot (after I kept saying "There can be only one!") during a free-for-all game in collegeAnd I have a degree in English and Education for all that's worth.

July 14, 2022: I am no longer an active Editor on this Wiki.

Departure

From the very first day I joined this community, I found myself in conflict with a particular person. My first experience of them was them telling me not to edit certain topics without talking to them first, as they "owned" those topics. I DMed them to inquire how that squared with Wiki policy, and they backpedaled fast, but I can only suppose that having challenged their "authority" marked me for further attention. I tried to improve a reference-less article from years ago that had been written by an Admin, and I got publicly bawled out because that person didn't like what the Admin wrote and felt I should have taken responsibility for those portions.

I lost most of my holiday weekend to fixing the damage they did, and all I got from them was snark, and them coming to my User Talk page to answer a question that had been clearly directed at me. I wiped that. That person had been previously told to stop interacting with me, and has continued to ignore it.

So I pulled back from my work, again. And, as before, they suddenly lost interest. I started a smaller project. Guess who showed up again?

Bitter experience has shown me that our leadership is too divided and lacking in integrity to address this sort of harassment--indeed, they appear to reward such behavior--and I can't keep dodging this person.

I wish things could have been otherwise.
