This article is about the show by HBS. For the combat maneuver and other uses, see Death From Above (maneuver) and Death From Above (disambiguation).

Death From Above (often abbreviated DFA) was the title of a show that Harebrained Schemes (HBS) streamed weekly on the HYPERRPG Twitch channel between the successful 2015 crowdfunding campaign for their BattleTech video game and the game's actual release in 2018.

The show followed the adventures of a unit called Mason's Marauders, roleplayed by various members of the Harebrained Schemes staff.

Canonicity[edit]

The computer game license obtained by HBS is distinct from the mainline "classic" BattleTech license, and products released under this license do not fall under the current definition of canon. As such, HBS is not in a position to create canonical content for the BattleTech universe in the first place (unless and until the current license holder decides to adopt some of their content as canonical, as was done with the House Arano: The Aurigan Coalition sourcebook but not with the Death From Above show).

Beyond that, it is even doubtful if the action as roleplayed out over the course of the show was ever intended to be a proper publication in the sense of a "real" in-universe storyline. As such, the show is not canon and has an outside claim to being apocryphal at best.

As an in-joke, Mason's Marauders under Lord Commander Garrilac featured in a tongue-on-cheek Flashpoint mission called "Bourbon & BattleMechs" in the first expansion for the game.
