Endo Steel is a type of steel, which may be used in the "skeleton" of a Battle or OmniMech. It has the property of being lighter than the normal skeleton but also weaker. In order to reach the strength of a normal "bone" they are made thicker. While the weight savings in tonnage can be significant, Endo Steel requires a significant number of space within a battlemech (7 slots for Clan Mechs, 14 for Inner Sphere Mechs). The weight savings for Endo Steel are greater than those saved by ferro-fibers. Interestingly, ferro-fibers take up the same amount of space in critical slots as Endo Steel but saves significantly less weight.
