Dr. Jorge Belasco was a scientist who worked on Project Phoenix, a BattleMech development program of House Davion at the Friden Aerospace Park on Hoff.

History

Project Phoenix lasted from approximately October 3020 until the Friden Aerospace Park facility was attacked on 13 May 3022. Its results included the Super Wasp and Super Griffin 'Mech designs. Conjecture suggests that Dr. Belasco was a prominent person on the project, possibly the project leader.

On 13 May 3022, when the test area was threatened by elements of the attacking Black Widow Company, Dr. Belasco ordered two MechWarriors to use the functional protoype 'Mechs as a last line of defense. While the test facility was being evacuated, he remained behind. Since three prototype 'Mechs eventually faced off against the attackers it can be speculated that the third 'Mech was piloted by Dr. Jorge Belasco himself.

The defense was apparently unsuccessful, and the defending 'Mechs were defeated. The fate of Dr. Jorge Belasco is unknown.

Notes

Although the scenario in the original sourcebook explicitly states one Super Griffin and two Super Wasps as the defending lineup, the text consistently mentions only two 'Mechs and two MechWarriors; this could be explained by either that assuming Dr. Belasco was adressing two MechWarriors in a 'Mech bay holding two of the prototypes, or that the number referred to the number of different new types of 'Mechs present, and not the actual number. In the German edition of the sourcebook, only one prototype each of the Super Wasp and Super Griffin form the defending lineup.
