Unit Description
L Corps (or the Fiftieth Corps) was one of the seventy-two Corps that made up the Star League Defense Force. Prior to the collapse of the Star League L Corps was a fairly large corps consisting of 7 divisions, an independent regiment, and an independent aero wing.[1]
History
In 2764 L Corps was part of the 16th Army assigned to District 3 of the Draconis Combine Military Region. When the simmering violence and rebellion building in the Periphery erupted with the New Vandenberg Uprising and subsequent Periphery-wide uprising in 2765 L Corps was deployed into the Periphery Military Region along with the rest of the 16th Army.[1]
L Corps took heavier losses in the Periphery campaign than they would in the entire Hegemony Campaign; by 2766 four of the seven divisions within L Corps had been lost in combat with a fifth division, the 165th Mechanized Infantry Division, suffering heavy enough losses to be disbanded, with some elements joining the rebels. During the course of the Hegemony Campaign L Corps lost another division, the 193rd Mechanized Infantry Division, leaving the Corps at a fraction of its former strength.[1]
When General Aleksandr Kerensky led the bulk of the SLDF on the Exodus in 2784 all of L Corps left with him.[1]
