Baron Alder Montong III was the noble ruler of the world Hsien until his death during the War of 3039.[1]
History[edit]
Alder Montong III was Baron in July 3039 when Free Worlds League forces, being the Third Free Worlds Guards, invaded as part of an opportunistic offensive while the Federated Commonwealth alliance was distracted by the War of 3039 with the Draconis Combine.
While Hsien had traditionally been a Capellan Confederation world, Baron Alder considered the Free Worlds League a greater evil than the Steiner-Davion alliance, and called on his people to resist the invasion. After being taken into captivity by the Marik forces the Baron, who had never been in good health, died of a heart attack during his first night in prison.
The public of Hsien came to believe he was murdered by the occupiers, and significant guerrilla action against the Third Free Worlds Guards resulted. After the Marik forces retreated in August 3039 following the arrival of relief forces in the guise of Wolf's Dragoons, Baron Alder was succeeded in this title by his son Luis Montong V, who welcomed the Dragoons as liberators.[1]
