The katzenwulfe is a wild mammal that is native to Braunschweig III.[2]
Description[edit]
Along with the planet's semi-animal tree anemones, the katzenwulfes are terrifying predatory beasts that populate the wilderness.[3] They resemble hybrids of Terran great cats and dire wolves and are frequently over 500 kg in mass. Some species of the katzenwulfe hunt in packs and some hunt alone.[2]
Though on many colonized worlds the indigenous predators are driven to extinction, on Braunschweig III, a balance of sorts was found as humans remained in their settlements and the katzenwulfe ruled the wilderness. The beasts roamed all of the planet's six continents except Isolierung, which was isolated and not connected like the other five were to each other.[1]
