Colonel Michael Wilson was the commander of the First McCarron's Armored Cavalry, a Capellan Confederation affiliated Mercenary unit, from at least 3025 to 3028.[1]
History[edit]
Wilson commanded the First McCarron's Armored Cavalry during the Fourth Succession War, and led the defense of Arboris in late 3028, against invading Federated Suns units including the Thirty-third Avalon Hussars and Blue Star Irregulars.
Not opposing the initial Armed Forces of the Federated Suns landing, as Wilson preferred to make his enemies come to him, he positioned his defenders in a large grassy plain full of prepared positions that could hide BattleMechs from sensors. While these allowed Wilson to successfully conduct a number of ambushes of the invaders, resulting in the engagement becoming known as the Battle of Blind Man's Bluff, he was eventually undone by a prejudice against aerospace fighters. While an excellent battlefield tactician, the Davion Ministry of Information, Intelligence, and Operations had identified he was a poor commander of aerospace forces, and his fighters were very sloppy when caught near their airfields.
The Hussars' therefore committed their entire aerospace contingent on 18 December 3028, catching most of Wilson's fighter wing on the ground, and destroyed them. Facing Davion air superiority, Wilson's forces suffered heavy casualties due to the Suns' better aerial recon and harassment, ultimately being forced to retreat after being reduced to a single Battalion.[2]
