Ravid's Reckoning was a pirate band led by Ravid Stroud operating in the rimward fringe of the Free Worlds League.[1]

History[edit]

While on a diplomatic mission to the Magistracy of Canopus, a JumpShip carrying a Free Worlds League envoy suffered a misjump which stranded the crew and passengers on Vakarel with no means of outside contact. Ravid Stroud, who was a trained diplomat and former FWL soldier, quickly took command of the survivors, but the isolation and dwindling supplies caused them to turn on each other. Unknown to the survivors, it was a nonlethal toxin in the water that made them increasingly paranoid and violent, a state they called the "Reckoning."[1]

A ship passing through the system detected signs of habitation and sent a DropShip to investigate. Ravid led the survivors in attacking and taking command of the ship full of 'Mechs and equipment, including Star League era LosTech weaponry, ultimately using it to launch a reign of terror as "Ravid's Reckoning." The group set up ammo stores and facilities on Gouderak and Watermael, but could not expand too far from their homebase on Vakarel. Unbeknownst to Ravid and his band, the toxin in the water had an addictive effect that effectively tied them to that world forever, as going without it for extended periods sickened them.[1]

Their activities lasted for about a decade, when a Capellan merchant vessel passing through the area detected signs of unregistered habitation and reported the findings back to Baron Ishmael Stroud, who was still searching for his lost son. A mercenary unit he contracted located and destroyed the Reckoning facilities on Gouderak and Watermael before pinpointing their base on Vakarel. They attempted to capture Ravid but he died in the battle, effectively dissolving the outlaw group.[1]

Notes[edit]

Despite having acquired Lostech equipment when they commandeered the DropShip, none of the 'Mechs in the High Reward Quest missions will feature advanced weaponry, due to being procedurally generated. They appear only as completion rewards.

Also a result of procedural generation, the names of any lieutenants will vary.
