Plot Summary[edit]
MechWarrior Abby is on a recon patrol on New Hessen in the Capellan Confederation. Later that day, her mercenary unit, Garret's Freeboters, moves out for a scavenging run on Neuer Wiesbaden, a city that was destroyed in the Third Succession War. While climbing into the cockpit of her Locust, she thinks about how many mercenaries believe that all Locust pilots are crazy. After barely getting out of the city, she is suddenly attacked by an entire lance of BattleMechs. Her 'Mech takes only light damage, due to her being able to evade most of the enemy fire. After transmitting a warning to her unit the leverages the Locust's great speed to escape by crossing a canal. When she reaches the city she finally is reunited with her unit. To celebrate her survival, she starts a dance with her 'Mech while admitting to herself that Locust pilots are a bit mad.
