Description[edit]
The Siren ProtoMech was originally designed by Clan Smoke Jaguar to serve as a reconnaissance unit. Its high speed allowed it to rush forward, find enemy forces, call in a missile strike, and evacuate without the enemy being able to see them. Given the light armor it carries, the Siren's best defense is its mobility.[4]
Weapons and Equipment[edit]
As the Siren was intended to be a scout and observer, it only carries a Light Machine Gun in either arm, each supplied with just 50kg of ammunition. Its armoring was also kept light in order to achieve a cruising speed of 108 km/h.[4]
Variants[edit]
- Siren 2
- Introduced during the 3060s, this variant of the Siren was upgraded with regular Machine Guns. BV (2.0) = 86[5]
- Siren 3
- The second variant introduced during the 3060s, this variant was armed with a pair of SRM-1 Launchers, split between the Protomech's two arms, and a total of one hundred reloads. To fit the large weapons, the Siren's speed was reduced to 120 km/h. BV (2.0) = 120[6]
- Siren 4
- Introduced during the torrential fighting of the Jihad, the third variant of the Siren was armed with a torso mounted ER Micro Laser. In addition, Siren's speed was increased with the use of MASC, allowing it to briefly reach speeds of 200 km/h. BV (2.0) = 88[7]
- Siren 5
- Slightly slower than Siren 4, this version of the Siren was armed with a single AP Gauss Rifle with one ton of ammunition. BV (2.0) = 105[8]
Notes[edit]
- In German products, the unit's proper name was translated to Sirene.
