Colonel Bruiskov was originally a MechWarrior in the AFFS before leaving with a core cadre of others to form the Maelstrom Mercs. They quickly built a reputation for hard hitting harassers, until the Clan Invasion. Shattered in the meat grinder of the initial Invasion, Bruiskov would spent years trying to rebuild the unit, finally succeeding just in time to be shattered once more in the FedCom Civil War. Embittered he sold his Locust for passage to Terra's Saltstraumen, hoping for some inspiration. Finding none he wrote a lengthy dissertation on the futility of mercenary life before vanishing from public view. Ironically, his dissertation obtained more fame than he or his unit ever did[1]
