Earthwerks Incorporated received a request from House Marik  in 3075 to build a BattleMech like no one had ever seen. Project, "Omega", began in July of 3075 with the plans for the new BattleMech being drawn up and requests going out to weapons manufacturers for the most advanced weapons systems and electronic known in the Inner Sphere or the Clans. After five years of testing and failures, the Thunderbolt-II was operational. The TDR-II-1A is everything that was hoped for by House Marik. The power of the new BattleMech is staggering, with 37 tons of, "Hardened", armor and a reinforce structure, the Mech can take incredible punishment. The Clan Supercharged GM 210-XL and the Triple Strength Moyomer makes it quick for it's size up to 56.2 km/h. There was some concern of the XL engine's ability to hold up to the Supercharger but, due to the extra 250 kilos of shielding the engine has there have been no problems with the system when needed during testing. If the Mech has any problems it's heat management but, some of the heat issues were dealt with by the rediscovery of a special, "insulation", that was used on the CHP-W5 Chippewa Areospace fighter for helping with it's heat problems. The double heat-sinks and the Triple Strength Moymer help deal with most of the rest but, an eye still needs to watch the heat gauges. The weapons systems on the Mech are all as experimental as the Mech itself, with weapons coming from the Inner Sphere and a Clan as well. The TDR-II-1A was a complete success but, due to the cost which is still unknown, some guesses as high as 100,000,000 C-Bills, only the prototype of project, "Omega", was built and it's whereabouts are unknown.

The TDR-II-1A has four weapons systems. First is a Clan Diamond Shark built Heavy Extended Range Particle Projection Cannon. With good range and the hitting power of an A/C 20 it's a powerful weapon but, heat can be a problem. Clan Diamond Shark also supplied their Super-Streak SRM-4 system. The missiles have the same range as the regular Streak but, has more hitting power per missile, 3 points. The only drawback is less missiles per ton can be carried. 20 instead of 25. Both of the Clan weapons are rare. How Earthwerks got Clan Diamond Shark to sell them the weapons and how much they cost is unknown. Both the Rotary E.R. Medium and Small lasers are built by Magna. Both systems have good power but, as with most rotary weapons, jams may happen.

Description

Armament
