History
In 3025, the Ideon Irregulars, a minor mercenary cadre, accepted a job in Pencader. The planet was locked in an extended cycle of conflict between the nobility who ruled the patchwork of ducal states that covered the planet and rebel forces. The nobility used local guardsmen and small mercenary units to fight against the dissident militia, whilst the militia were equipped at least in part with surplus Free Worlds League Military equipment - including 'Mechs - provided covertly by the Free Worlds League. The battles had been going on long enough that refugees were a common feature on the planet, but the nobles were still enjoying a luxurious lifestyle; the Lyran government was loathe to intervene, keen to avoid sparking another border war with the Free Worlds League, giving the League ample reason to continue covertly supplying the rebels in the hopes of tipping the planet into their sphere of influence.[1]
