Description
Essentially a generational improvement over the Man-Portable Medium Machine Guns or General Purpose Machine Guns of the 20th Century this weapon fires rifle rounds in the vicenity of 7.62 mm or 0.30 inch calibre. This calibre of round is better able to damage BattleMechs, BattleArmor and Combat Vehicles. Semi-Portable Machine Guns are used for close-in fire support of infantry units. Most models are belt fed though some use 200 round canisters. Rarely used as a squads main weapon due to requireing a crew of two, it is more often used in a supporting role.
