Terran Standard Time

Revision as of 04:31, 12 April 2022 by Frabby (talk | contribs) (Article subject got conflated with the apocryphal Terran Synchronized Time system; fixed)

Terran Standard Time (TST) is the system used throughout known space to keep time. It has canonically been described as "basically a renamed form of Greenwich Mean Time".[1]

It should not be confused with the distinct Terran Synchronized Time, which is also abbreviated as TST and describes a localized time measurement whereby a local "hour" is defined as 1/24th of the planetary day cycle (instead of a metric hour).

ComStar (and presumably Star League Ministry of Communications before) would synchronize the time on various worlds via the HPG network.[2]

Due to Terra's 365.25 day orbit, the entire known universe still experiences quadrennial Leap Days on February 29th.[3][4][5]
