Fred Podansky was a soldier in the mercenary unit Roger's Rippers, and one of the survivors of the unit's collapse. He was a scout in the Rippers' battle armor detachment, selected for his skills and his toughness. A level-headed man, his quiet, withdrawn personality kept him out of command.[1]
Eventually, due to DropShip trouble, on an unknown date during the Dark Age Era the remnants of Roger's Rippers found themselves stranded on Botany Bay. There, they were hired to hunt down a local pirate, Serena Yang.[2] Whether this mission succeeded is unknown.
