Lieutenant Frieda Bergstrom was a Mercenary MechWarrior who served with the Gray Death Legion during the thirty-first century.[1]

Personal Appearance[edit]

Bergstrom had Nordic features, with blond hair, and blue eyes.[2][3]

History[edit]

Background[edit]

A native of Wotan in the Lyran Commonwealth, Bergstrom was reputed to act as if she had ice water running through her veins, though she resented any situation that tied her down. Her preferred tactics were to remain mobile on the outskirts of a battle, focusing on scouting and harassing the enemy.[3]

As of 3056, Bergstrom commanded a Recon Lance in the First BattleMech Company, of the Gray Death's First Battalion.[1] Another role she periodically filled was as an instructor for the Gray Death's cadets in quick-kill and other martial arts disciplines, during which she was fond of teaching them to close the range when facing better equipped enemies.[4]

Second Skye Rebellion[edit]

During the Second Skye Rebellion she participated in the defense of Glengarry against the Fourth Lyran Guards, including fighting a delaying action near the Dunkeld spaceport complex on 7 April 3056[5], and a successful raid on 11 April 3056 against the the Fourth's position near Lake Sheol.[6] This followed a number of shifts helping monitoring communications in the Gray Death's command center at the start of the Fourth's invasions.[2][7] During this conflict, Bergstrom kept a personal journal, in which she praised Alexander Carlyle's leadership skills.[8]

Operation EXCALIBUR[edit]

Bergstrom was still in charge of her Recon Lance as of 3057, landing on Hesperus II on 13 December to join Legion CO Grayson Death Carlyle, in order to combat rebellious Field Marshal Brandal Gareth's attenot to form a breakaway Free Star Republic via his Operation EXCALIBUR.[9]

BattleMech[edit]

Bergstrom was known to have piloted a Valkyrie BattleMech.[1][3]

Legacy[edit]

Frieda's family continued to provide military officers long after she had died, who consciously sought to live up to her legacy with the Gray Death, including the Eleventh Donegal Guards's commander as of 3145 Leutnant-General Nathan Bergstrom.[10]
