Joseph Cope was a Hesperus II native, smuggler and resistance fighter during the Word of Blake Jihad.[1]

Cope, together with his partner in crime Mark Jefferies, were smugglers on Hesperus II of various goods including guns and alcohol prior to its conquest by the Word of Blake in 3070. Finding their illicit business impossible to continue under Blakist occupation, the pair fled to the East Barrens continent in a stolen Cobra Transport VTOL, joining up with resistance forces. Using their Cobra as a mobile base for their resistance, they assisted in strikes made against the occupiers.
Following the liberation of Hesperus II in 3074 by forces under Devlin Stone, despite their history Cope and Jefferies joined Stone's Coalition with their resistance unit comrades, to continue the fight against the Word.[1]
