Kit Dubonet was the commanding officer of the Eighth Crucis Lancers as of 2828.[1]
History[edit]
When the Capellan Confederation invaded the Chesterton region in June 2828, Colonel Dubonet was stationed on Sanilac with the Eighth Crucis Lancers. Attacked by the more experienced Ninth Tikonov Lancers, Dubonet failed to take advantage of the Ninth Tikonov's scattered landings and gave them time to regroup and push back. Dubonet's troops lost engagement after engagement to the Ninth Tikonov and he came to the conclusion that, barring a miracle or the use of nuclear weapons, Salinac would be lost. Dubonet's recourse was to begin a plot to hit the Ninth Tikonov's headquarters in the capital city of Sandusky with chemical weapons, figuring that the thousands of civilians killed by such an attack would simply be "collateral damage". When the death of Chancellor Ilsa Liao on Orbisonia caused a theater wide shock to Capellan morale, and with the arrival of the Twelfth Syrtis Fusiliers as reinforcements, Dubonet's miracle came true and Salinac was secured.[1]
Dubonet's poor fighting prowess and aborted plot to kill thousands of the Federated Suns' own civilians quickly lead to his reassignment to the staff of the Duke of New Syrtis and away from frontline command, although Dubonet falsely perceived this as a promotion.[1]
