Mountain Song[edit]
Foster: Sirs, now I know why the readings were so bizarre. This core is a data key. It looks like it’s meant to calibrate the other cores. But that doesn’t make sense, unless they somehow work in unison. How many other cores are there?
Natalia: Maybe it’ll make more sense if you get it inside the Icarus and out of the freezing cold.
Foster: Right away, Major. By cross referencing the four cores, I think we’ll be close to finding out what the Word is doing.
Natalia: Foster, are you reading me?
Foster: We got you, Major.
Natalia: I was following a lead from those Highlanders the MechWarrior rescued. Looks like I’ve found the vipers’ nest.
Foster: Major, we already know it’s the Word of Blake behind this.
Natalia: Clear the channel! Look!
Foster: Alera! I knew it! She betrayed us!
Natalia: Okay, Foster. Settle down. Let’s see where this goes. We’ll deal with her later. I think I have an issue here... Oh, this isn’t good!
Objective: Escort Foster down the mountain side.
Foster: We're in a huge bind. Natalia's gone. Alera's gone. And we don't have a jumpship that can take us out of orbit, but I have a plan. If we can get to the old hyperpulse generator the Dragoons were securing, we can send a wideband SOS.
Foster: I’m reading tanks in this valley. Kick them to the curb.
Foster: Watch out, sir. They know we’re here. They’ll be bringing ‘Mechs to this party.
Foster: MechWarrior, you need to help us out here. We’re taking fire.
Foster: Sir, I’ll wait here. You’ll have to find a VTOL to transport my APC across this rugged terrain.
Foster: Sir, there’s an abandoned ‘Mech over there with jump jets. The extra maneuverability will be useful in this terrain.
Objective: Find a VTOL at the base of this mountain.
Blakist: We’re under attack. Call the sergeant back from patrol.
Blakist 2: Yeah, Frost and his upgunned ‘Mech will take care of this pesky Dragoon.
Foster: Take out those comm dishes. Then the Word of Blake won’t be able to respond as quickly when we send out an SOS.
Objective: Destroy any comm dishes you find.
Foster: Sir, grab that VTOL and come pick up the APC.
Objective: Pick up Foster in the VTOL.
Frost: Now you’ll die here!
Blakist: Sergeant Frost!
Foster: Great work, sir! Follow these Nav Points up the mountain.
Objective: Get to the top of the next mountain.
Foster: Sir, there are more communications towers. Follow the Nav markers and destroy them.
Objective: Destroy any comm dishes you find.
Foster: Good work. You need to keep moving up the mountain.
Blakist: We have a visual.
Foster: One more patrol of tanks and we should be clear. Great piloting, sir.
Objective: The hyperpulse generator is just over the next ridge. Follow the Nav Point.
Foster: That did it! Let’s go to the Icarus and move to the abandoned signal station.
Foster: Sir, there’s a turret on the ridge. Use it to take out the bridge and buy us time. The Word is going to be on us in a big way.
