Description[edit]

The Rogue was produced for the Star League Defense Force as a missile boat designed for zero-G combat. Though well-protected with five and a half tons of Ferro-Aluminum armoring, its sluggish performance often required its escort by other fighters. Its five tons of fuel gave it the ability to patrol and perform guard duties, as well as function in a fire support and bombardment role. Still, the Rogue was little-loved with few supporters, and the destruction of the Iona shipyards in 2797 meant the craft was on its way to extinction. In the end, only a handful are left in the arsenals of ComStar and Word of Blake, with some possibly held by the Clans in older Brian Caches.[7][4]

Weapons and Equipment[edit]

The Rogue uses its wing-mounted Holly-8 LRM Delivery Systems to engage the enemy at long ranges and, when performing defensive operations, discourage the predation of other launching craft. However, after 8 salvos, the craft is left to defend itself with two Starflash-1A Medium Lasers, each mounted either in the nose or rear of the craft. Since it is often the first fighter to leave a fight, the rear laser is more likely to be used, discouraging any pursuit.[7][4]

Variants[edit]

  • RGU-133F
Though still poor at maneuvering and short on fuel, the RGU-133F was used as a ground-attack fighter by replacing each LRM-15 (and ammo) with 2 SRM-6s, with enough ammo for 30 salvos each, as well as the capability to carry bombs.[8] BV (1.0)= 614[9] , BV (2.0) = 818[5][10]
  • RGU-133L
    A strafing model, the RGU-133L Rogue replaced the LRM-15s and ammo with a pair of wing-mounted Large Lasers and 6 additional heat sinks.[11] BV (1.0)= 807[12] , BV (2.0) = 865[5][13]
  • RGU-133LP
An upgraded RGU-133L variant by the ComGuard replaced the standard heat sinks with double heatsinks and upgraded the Large and Medium Lasers to Pulse Laser versions. Though one of the most potent variants and a favorite among dogfighters, only ten percent of ComStar Rogues are this variant.[14] BV (2.0) = 856[15]
