Sascha Laurie was the commanding officer of the Eleventh Sian Dragoons as of 2805.[1]

History[edit]

Colonel Laurie, having taken part in both the First and Second Battles of Oriente, was given command of the Third Battle of Oriente following the death of Colonel Ernst Maretta. With Twenty-fourth Sian Dragoons commander Colonel Danladi Raziq as her second, Laurie initiated the third invasion on 18 September 2805. Oriente's paltry remaining naval defenses folded quickly and Laurie's knowledge of the planet from the previous conquest attempts allowed the Confederation forces to avoid what few surface-to-orbital missile silos remained intact on-world. Aerospace fighter resistance to the Capellans' initial landings was also minimal and dealt with quickly.[1]

As the days passed and the Confederation's targets fell in quick succession, Laurie began to suspect that the ease of the operation indicated a brewing Free Worlds League trap. While Laurie started by ordering increased caution as the Capellans eliminated the final anti-orbital weapons and closed in on the capital city of Cadiz, she soon developed the habit of badgering her subordinates for constant status updates while delving ever deeper into paranoia-driven micromanaging. Just as the Confederation troops began to attack Cadiz directly, the Free Worlds League trap that Laurie dreaded was finally sprung: an fleet of Free Worlds League JumpShips and WarShips arrived in-system to defeat the Capellans and rescue Oriente.[1]

As the Capellans finally secured Cadiz, the Free Worlds League was finishing off their naval support and preparing to launch landings of their own. Low on consumables and exhausted from months of fighting, the Confederation forces dug in and waited for an attack that would finally land on 18 December. Massively outnumbered and with no means of escape, Laurie's troops fought like cornered animals and even resorted to tactical nuclear weapons in some cases, but they could not stop the League's inevitable victory. By the first week of 2806, all of Laurie's troops were either dead or captured, ending the Confederation's hopes of claiming Oriente for good.[1]
