History

The Silver Merlin was a Peregrine-class corvette built by Clan Jade Falcon. The Silver Merlin became famous among the Clans for the dogged dedication of its crew to finding and rooting out Dark Caste forces. The Silver Merlin's initial successes in bandit-hunting activity earned the crew a higher degree of latitude for independent operations at the discretion of the ship's commander, something the crew were enthusiastic about, as the alternative would most likely have been spending their time escorting merchant ships or ground forces.

The Silver Merlin operated independently for extended periods of time, sometimes absent for years at a time, hunting down the Dark Caste. When the Silver Merlin launched another hunting expedition in 3045, it was considered a matter of routine by the Jade Falcon leadership, but it marked the last time that the Silver Merlin was seen by any of the Clans.

Rumored Sightings

The Inner Sphere organization known as Interstellar Expeditions reported at least one sighting of a Peregrine operating in the Deep Periphery in the early 3070s, and while searching for remains of the Rim Worlds Republic in early 3071, a Clan Goliath Scorpion Seeker expedition reportedly encountered a Peregrine-class WarShip fielded by the mysterious group known as the Green Ghosts. Sightings of a Peregrine operated by, or in the company of, the Green Ghosts would remain unconfirmed at least as late as 3150. It is possible, but not certain, that the mysterious Peregrine observed by Interstellar Expeditions and the Goliath Scorpions was the missing Silver Merlin.
