Hunter's birth status

I don't believe that the Clan Wolf sourcebook specified what Hunter's birth status was, meaning that I don't believe Hunter's correct name was "Hunter Wolf".

I don't think that the phonebook style sourcebooks (aka Clan Wolf and Clan Jade Falcon) used freebirth surnames for freeborn warriors when the sourcebooks had the phonebook Tukayyid combat rosters.

I would recommend that for Clan warriors that have no surnames in a source, to update Sarna policy to assume that they are trueborn warriors that have not achieved a Bloodname, unless there is a source to the contrary. Thus, since there is no source that definitively says that Warrior Hunter from the Wolf Clan Sourcebook is indeed a freeborn adopted into the warrior caste, then we can only assume that Hunter is a trueborn warrior that does not have a surname.

The above statement would be consistent with canon examples Star Colonels Lara and Marco in the Blood of Kerenskey novel series (later revealed to be Lara Ward and Marcos Radick respectively), and with the Zane Nova Cat article discussion on Sarna.

For this article (currently named "Hunter Wolf" as of August 2, 2022), if we were to apply the above ruling....

1. Per Sarna best practice, the title should be changed to "Hunter_(Clan_Wolf)". 2. All mentions of "Hunter Wolf" in this article should be removed to be consistent. 3. (Not sure if this is automagical), "Hunter_(Clan_Wolf)" should be added to the "Hunter" disambiguation page.

Sarna policy toward Clan surname ambiguity

If the Sarna best practice for warrior surnames was to be updated, it could potentially have impact on several articles because....

1. The Wolf Clan Sourcebook actually has warriors with no surnames AND actually says that the warriors in the unit are freeborn (the Gurbeng Garrison Cluster comes to mind). Would that mean that every single member with no surname in such a unit is freeborn and, as such, have their articles updated to include their freeborn surname?

This article appears to have appended "Wolf" to the warrior's name to disambiguate it from several articles named "Hunter". I'll edit the article title and article text to disambiguate this article from the other Hunter articles. 75.23.228.139 19:28, 2 August 2022 (EDT)
