Darley was a member of the Recon Lance, Second Company, First Battalion of MacLeod's Regiment as of 3057. In this role, Darley participated in the defense of Northwind, following the Northwind Highlanders declaring independence from the Federated Commonwealth.
On 20 October Darley joined an assault on the command post of the Third Royal Guards in Northwind's Peace Park, to foil a plot by the Davion unit to lure the soon to land on world Stirling's Fusiliers into an ambush using stolen Highlander codes, which was successful in both warning the Fusiliers about the situation and forcing the Guards to retreat.[1]
