Marshal Harrison Bradford was the commander of the Third Royal Guards from 3050[1] until at least 3057.[citation needed]

History

Bradford was a MechWarrior[2] and stationed on Port Moseby while with the Third Royal Guards RCT.[1][3] In 3057, Archon-Prince Victor Steiner-Davion ordered Bradford to Northwind to restore order. He and rogue Ministry of Information, Intelligence, and Operations operatives Drew Catelli and Lepeta engineered a plot to crush the Northwind Highlanders and secure more personal power. They failed, and their victory at the Battle of Northwind resulted in an independent Northwind. The Highlanders declined to prosecute Bradford for war crimes, and the Archon-Prince likewise declined to dismiss him due to a pressing need of field commanders, especially one so indebted to him. His fate is unknown, but the Third returned to Lyran Commonwealth Armed Forces rosters in time for Operation BULLDOG, and he is not recorded again. Victor received a china plate bearing Northwind's name with Bradford's epaulette resting on it.[4][5][6]

Bradford was a cigar aficionado and carried an expensive laser lighter. Before the Northwind debacle he had hoped to eventually retire from the Armed Forces of the Federated Commonwealth to a diplomatic posting on some idyllic world.[7]

Notes

Because the Royal Guards preferred to recruit from the regions they represent, Bradford would likely be a native of the Tamar Pact. That might explain his later absence, if he returned to the Lyran Commonwealth/Alliance he would do so under the shadow of a losing military campaign and without the mitigation of being indebted to his liege lord.
