[edit]
“ | OPERATION RAT: The cost of war is not borne only by men and women in uniform, nor by the treasuries of nations and sacrifices of armies. It is also borne by men and women in the everyday life of recovery and struggle. | ” |
Plot summary[edit]
From the Ruins follows Feodor Kazmanov, an assembly line worker at the Earthwerks Incorporated plant on Tikonov, shortly after the planet fell to the Federated Suns during the Fourth Succession War. The House Davion assault damaged the capital city of Tikograd, and Kazmanov struggles to deal with living in a war-torn city while the new government institutes sweeping social and economic changes in everyday life. In the end a few factory workers including Feodor resolve to resist the Davion occupation by delivering subtly sub-standard production.
