Overview[edit]
In 3042 Ravannion protégé Tai-i Marge Sippers launched a raid on Kelenfold using a revised version of the "Charge of the Horde," with heavier Jenners alongside the typical "bug" ’Mechs. After a night insertion the Combine Company traveled a hundred kilometers in order to strike the Kelenfold TMM supply depot from an unexpected direction. The Commonwealth forces were surprised and only able to scramble a single Lance to confront the Combine forces. Unfortunately for the Combine it was an assault lance composed of a Banshee, Striker, and two Zeuses Sending the Stingers and Wasps against the conventional forces guarding the supplies Sippers had the Jenners engage the heavier ’Mechs. After gathering enough supplies to complete the mission the Combine forces destroyed the rest and the Stingers then sought to assist the Jenners. After losing two Stingers to rear firing Zeuses Sippers ordered a withdrawal. Though strategically successful, the raid cost six Combine ’Mechs to two Lyran Mechs. Sippers was reprimanded and another nail was put in the Horde doctrine's coffin.[1]
Notes[edit]
Comparing 3025 model Cost of four Jenners and two Stingers against a Striker and a Banshee comes out fairly close to even, 16 million C-Bills in losses for the Combine and 16.6 for the Commonwealth. Hardly a stunning rebuke of the Horde strategy.
