The Sixty-First Infantry Division or the Michigan 61st was a part of the Star League Defense Force Regular Army.[1]
Contents
History
The 61st formed a part of XXVII Corps, Eleventh Army, and in 2764 was stationed in District 1 of the Lyran Commonwealth Military Region. Following the New Vandenberg Uprising and subsequent Periphery uprising the 61st was moved to District 2 of the LCMR in 2765 to backfill for units deployed into the periphery.[1]
The 61st took heavy losses during the Hegemony Campaign and the division was disbanded by 2784. One sub-unit of the 61st, the 346th Heavy Tank Regiment, went on to join the Free Worlds League[1]
Composition
As an SLDF infantry division the 61st would have been formed from one brigade of light BattleMech regiments and two brigades of grunt infantry.[2]
