Albert Heidegger was a major in the Lone Wolves mercenary command.[1]
History
Originally from the Duchy of Andurien, Heidegger joined the Humphreys Training Academy. Leaving Andurien only weeks before he graduated from the training academy after learning of the planned marriage between Duke Ari Humphreys and Ilsa Centrella-Liao. Without any combat experience beyond his training at the academy, he had some reputation for (almost) graduating from a military academy. He signed on with the Lone Wolves, doing jobs seemingly no one else wanted to do. He slowly learned what was needed to run a mercenary outfit, how to talk with techs and MechWarriors, managing to keep united even a so dispar unit as the Wolves, and was eventually given a BattleMech. By 3145, Heidegger was representing the Wolves in both contract negotiations and leading it in the field.[1]
On 3151, the Wolves traveled to Alyina, the capital of the newly born [Àlyina Mercantile League]]. There, Heidegger impressed the Syndic Factor Marena, which proved to be a keen haggler in his own right. Six months later, the Wolves moved to Sudeten, citing, in Albert's words, a lack of action. Despite never being contracted by the Clan Jade Falcon Remnants, the Wolves were key to defending the planet against the invasion of Clan Hell's Horses.[2]
Despite being officially the spokesman of the Wolves Committee, Heidegger left his mark on the group, as heavily emphasized training together. That appears to have paid dividends during the Battle of Sudeten (3152), and even the Falcons appreciated greatly their help and praised his bravery and the Wolves'.[3]
Personality
Though physically uninspiring, Heideger's slovenly and unshaven appearance conceals a keen mind, and despite nobody who had talked him would trust him with nothing, anyone who had fought beside him would ever let him down.[4]
BattleMech
Heidegger's original 'Mech was unknown, but after the Battle of Sudeten, he was given a salvaged Hell's Horses' Dire Wolf (Daishi).[5]
