Overview[edit]

The territory claimed by the Free Worlds League is divided into four administrative areas. The highest-ranking Free Worlds League Military officer in each district is known as a District Marshal. These officers can activate any defensive measure in their district they deem necessary, but all offensive operations must be authorized by the LCCC. Usually all commanding officers holding the rank of Colonel or higher report to their District Marshal, but the LCCC can issue orders directly to a regimental commander. The LCCC is careful not to do so frequently however, as this bypasses the chain of command.[1]

Several units are sworn to either the Captain-General or the LCCC. District Marshals have no authority over these troops. The best known example of such a unit is the Knights of the Inner Sphere.
