Fortuna and her sister Gloria were raised by a mercenary father, who ran a small mercenary unit prior to the Pax Republica. Her father did not support Devlin Stone's Military Materiel Redemption Program, providing both his daughters with a 'Mech as their inheritance, together with training to prepare for when war returned to the Inner Sphere.[1]

Fortuna was generally in charge of obtain work for the sisters, but based on their father's views, they both refused to accept jobs from the Republic of the Sphere.[2]

Fortuna was known to have piloted a NX-33-L Nyx BattleMech, nicknamed "Fortune".[1]
