Formerly Green Star Emergency Services, the mammoth Green Star Corporation has grown to become effectively a shadow-government in the Federated Suns Periphery facing Outback region.[3]

Overview
Founded in 3008, initially Green Star Emergency Services represented an experiment by the Federated Suns government when it decided to privatize certain emergency services within the Outback region. Issuing these former government emergency response teams with some ancient equipment that would otherwise been scrapped, Green Star Emergency Services provided relief services primarily during such events as bandit raids or natural disasters, negotiating contracts with local planetary governments in feeding, sheltering and caring for disaster victims as well as consulting in reconstruction efforts. In the wake of First Prince Hanse Davion's "Bold New Frontier" speech in 3017 urging the people of the Federated Suns to colonize new planets and invest in the resource rich worlds near the Federated Suns/Periphery border, the experiment provided highly successful as Green Star eventually opened up subsidiary offices across the Outback to feed increased demand for its services.[1][3]
It was on the back of this booming business and with significant anonymous financial backing (rumored to be House Davion, though other prominent FedSun families have been suggested) that Green Star signed several remarkable merger deals with companies that complemented its operations in Outback, allowing it by the era of the Clan Invasion to grow into the Green Star Corporation, the Federated Suns newest megacorporation, providing products and services to much of the Outback as well as a not-insignificant percentage of the entire nation. While providing much needed services to the disadvantaged region, Green Star's dominance is such that some have come to think of it as a shadow-government, effectively running the Outback through its near-monopolies and exploiting those least able to resist. One example of this is when numerous groups sought to bring antitrust suits against the influence of Green Star purchased Consolidated Utilities and Services in the Outback they used the services of Federated Arbitrators and Judges Inc, the FedSuns premier civil arbitration firm and ironically another Green Star holding, to do so.[1]
Divisions
As of 3067, aside from Green Star Emergency Services, the Green Star Corporation boasted four other major divisions:
Federated Arbitrators and Judges Inc.
Originally an independent company, Federated Arbitrators and Judges Inc. was founded in 3017 by Count Edward Defano as a civil arbitration firm largely confining itself to interplanetary disputes. Focusing the bulk of its efforts in the Outback, Count Defano and his company grew to become de facto alternative judicial system for the entire Davion realm. The company's Outback-focus made Federated Arbitrators highly attractive to the expanding Green Star Corporation which acquired it in the wake of the Clan Invasion. Green Star funds allowed Federated Arbitrators to grow larger, taking over a heavy burden from the FedSuns judicial system but also cementing a near monopoly on legal services in the Outback.[1][3]
McRae Quik Construct
Created in 3018, Outback based McRae Quik Construct developed an extremely popular line of lightweight yet durable prefabricated housing to meet the needs of the many citizens who took up First Prince Hanse Davion's calls to The company planned to pour the windfall of this success into expanding into city planning and heavy construction to situate themselves as the natural choice to replace their temporary buildings when they wore out with more permanent structures. Suffering from a series of scandals in the wake of the Clan Invasion, McRae Quik Construct was acquired by the expanding Green Star Corporation in 3057, its new parent company expanding McRae with much-needed heavy construction equipment and providing it with near-monopoly construction and engineering contracts for all Green Star administrated operations.[1][4]
Consolidated Utilities and Services
Originally a loose alliance of utility companies that services about 15 percent of the Outback, Consolidated Utilities and Services was a natural addition to the expanding Green Sun Corporation. Once merged under Green Star management and making heavy use of Green Star and affiliated services that percentage dramatically increased to the point numerous groups brought antitrust suits against Consolidated Utilities and Services.[1]
Crimson Star Permanent Assurance
The fourth largest insurance provider in the Federated Suns, the company was another natural fit for Green Star Corporation's expansion, being famous for offering low cost insurance to traditionally destitute worlds. Crimson Star built a sizable network of hospitals and clinics on such worlds, making extensive use of Green Star and affiliated services in their expansion and operation.[1]
The Pit and Andrea Hu Enterprises
Among the oddest additions to the Green Star family, The Pit was a huge chain of popular clothing stores while Andrea Hu Enterprises were designers and manufacturers of "affordable everyday wear." Merging both acquisitions into one division, Green Star Corporation built several clothing factories in both the Outback and near the Chaos March to take advantage of the lower labor costs and fewer regulations in those regions.[1]
