Canonicity[edit]

Featured only in the apocryphal computer game MechWarrior 4: Black Knight, the character of Greg Mathers is apocryphal as well.

Description[edit]

Greg Mathers is the Lance Commander of the Black Knight Legion's Flanker Lance. He was known to be good friends with Eric McClair of Striker Lance.[1]

Pirate Contract[edit]

Congratulations on the lance upgrade, Eric. When you get done watchdogging these corporate crawlers, let’s hook up for a round at the cantina.

--Greg to Eric upon learning of his promotion.

Greg and his Flanker lance would escort the convoy along with Eric's Striker Lance, where he would congratulate him for the promotion. He would even offer drinks on him after the escort duty was done.

Ambush & Capture[edit]

During an ambush, Mathers and the rest of the Legion's Lance Commanders (with the exception of Eric and his Striker Lance) would fight Steiner Assault Mechs. He was the first person to witness Colonel Lawhorn take a hit to the cockpit and identify that the attackers were of Steiner origin. Eric offered Greg a chance to pull back and join him, but he declined and told McClair to protect the convoy. He would later end up captured in an internment camp and later be rescued by the remnants of the shattered mercenary unit.
