History
The Hartford was serving as a part of the Star League Defense Force Seventh Fleet in 2763 and was part of a flotilla from the Seventh that was involved in a brief battle with the Free Worlds League Navy Second Fleet in the Calloway VI system. It was unclear which side fired first, but the venerable and respected League-class destroyer FWLS Albert Marik was destroyed in the opening salvos, while both the Second Fleet flagship, the Aegis-class heavy cruiser FWLS Olympic and the SLS Hartford both suffered damage heavy enough to require repairs in dry dock before they could be returned to operational status. The incident was a source of considerable tension between the Free Worlds League and the League, during a time when discontent against the Star League was steadily mounting amongst the population of the Free Worlds.[1]
