The Imperator is the highest ranking officer in the Marian Legions, and is responsible for the day to day operations of all Marian Hegemony forces. This officer is the Caesar's right hand, taking care of all military affairs so the Caesar can deal with other matters and reporting directly to the Caesar.[1]

Prior to Julius O'Reilly's ascension to the Caesarship, the term Imperator was used to indicate the leader of the Marian Hegemony. One of Julius' first acts was to create the current Imperator position. The Imperator wears the rank insignia of a General, modified to show two gold stars in the center of the black triangle, to show his rank.
